Lambo R.E.D

A few days ago I sat down with Lamborghini R.E.D. to find out who he was and what we can expect from him….

How did you come up with the name Lamborghini R.E.D?

Whenever anyone from any background sees a Lamborghini they can appreciate and enjoy the craftsmanship of the car. I feel the same is with my work. I produce lyrics that everyone can appreciate because I put the truth in my work. You won’t ever find me talking about things that I have never lived out. R.E.D stands for Reppin Every Day.

What do you plan to do with your winnings?

Invest them back into my music. (Recording time, cds, photos, videos, press kit, etc.)

How did you feel about the event and the competition?

I look at the event as a stepping stone for myself, a great experience, blessing, and a way to gain exposure. I want to bring Charlotte together and am willing to work with whoever is actually willing to work.

As far as the competition, some came prepared and others did not. I’ve been rapping for 11 years and you will always have jitters but you have to practice your craft and as an artist not just a rapper let it flow from within you.

Did you get any advice from the judges?

After the show they told me to stay focused, stay positive, and keep my head up.

What about the Trayvon Martin situation inspired you to write a song and what do you want people to take away from the song?

Being a young African American male I wanted to show people a point of view that Trayvon could have had. Every young African American male in a hoodie is not out to do wrong. I feel that it is sad that Americans are willing to justify his death with that. It was just my artistic view, but it could have been me or someone I know in that same situation and I think the world needs to be aware.

Who are your musical inspirations?

My first inspiration was Lloyd Banks. I am also inspired by Jeezy and T.I. I listen to reality artist who don’t fabricate.

What do you think of ymcmb and how they have a lot in rotation?

Wayne to me is just a rapper, not an artist. He makes good music, but that’s just putting words together. An artist puts together a story, makes you close your eyes and visualize.

I like Drake, he’s in touch with his emotions (as Lambo chuckles and smiles)

And Nicki Minaj has her own lane, she’s doing a good job of making a name for herself. Give it a few more years and she will be like other big time female rappers.

Who are some artists you would love to work with?

T.I. and Jeezy. As far as R&B, Charlie Wilson, Ginuwine (my all time favorite R&B), and Trey Songz.

What’s the most fulfilling thing about what you do?

Music allows me to show people that I come from where they come from, and to give them hope that you can always do better no matter what situation you are in. I came from a town with two street lights, and with faith, dedication, and motivation I am striving to do better. I want youth to be empowered.

What can people look forward to from you in the rest of 2012 and 2013?

A lot of music…trying to keep it real, a level where everyone can relate. I have a Team Lambo fan base started, and I plan to be doing more work with MOB, 321, Executive Branch, Paper Only.

As a single man what are you looking for in a relationship?

Someone who is loyal, knows how to smile, and is willing to shoot me a good morning text every now and then. I just want them to support me and in return I’ll do the same. Show love and I’ll return the favor.

What advice do you have for women?

If you have a good man than stick by him. Stop looking at the outside all the time. Jewels, cars, etc. won’t take care of the inside. There needs to be a balance.

Tell me 5 things people don’t know about you…

  1. Big Aaliyah fan
  2. I love a chase…a woman that makes me work for her time is much sexier. I enjoy a good conversation.
  3. Animal lover. I have a German shepherd, Chihuahua, and 2 kittens
  4. I want to when the time is right have a family….3 kids
  5. Making music will forever be what I do, I made a promise to my cousin, before he passed away from a car accident, that I would continue OUR dream…and I haven’t stopped!
