Crown of the Town

Where were you on May 5, 2012? I hope at Crown of the Town (an Executive Branch, LLC production) because if not, you missed out on a remarkable event. Bluz kicked off the event, with DJ Shaun Nyce, taking the audience on a journey through Hip-Hop music with songs like “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G. and “La Di Da Di” by Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick. The competition started with a cypher, and then the 5 that moved onto the next round showcased their own musical performances. While the judges (Jamel Romeo A&R with Kingdom Business Entertainment LLC, Teairra Mari R&B Singer on Division1 and Jermaine Spencer VP of Promotions with BNR and Founder/CEO of Ntice) deliberated the crowd enjoyed a performance by Stephfon (known for his single “That Guy”). Before Teairra Mari closed out with a performance the two finalist had to battle for the Crown.

DK and Lamborghini R.E.D. head to head. DK came with hard hitting punch lines like “It’s good to be the King, I’m a nightmare you just a bad dream” and “I kick game, soccer team”. Both young men showed how talented they were, so much so that Romeo almost wanted to call a tie. Teairra Mari and the crowd were not feeling that. So after the judges took some much needed deliberation time they came back with a unanimous vote. Lamborghini R.E.D. was the winner, consistency and effective delivery paid off.
